“Based off personal experiences as well as emotions expressed in the form of motifs, Melanie’s music causes her listeners to look at the world with a whole new perspective.”

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Melanie loved playing ice hockey, reading novels, and writing songs.  She quickly became an avid fan of country music, citing influences such as Shania Twain, Phil Vassar, Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac, and Miranda Lambert.  While her mom always played country radio in the house, her dad instilled in her a love of rock music. Surrounded by Pittsburgh’s metal/rock/pop scene, Melanie’s songwriting and singing became a product of her environment: primarily country with an urban, pop-rock feel that comes from growing up in a Northern city.  She carried this influence with her to Belmont University where she dual-majored in songwriting and English and received a Masters in education.

Her first EP “All the Good Songs” (2012) was her first attempt at distinguishing a unique sound for herself, its songs drawing upon her real-life experiences at first love, loss, and self-reflection.

In the Fall of 2013, Melanie was nominated for a Nashville Independent Music Award (NIMA) for Best Female Country Artist. She has since had the privilege of opening for Little Big Town, Restless Heart, Darryl Worley, the Commodores, Rick Vito of Fleetwood Mac, and Steve Augeri of Journey, as well as headlining many festivals around PA, OH, and TN.

Signing her first publishing deal with Dune Grass Music in February 2016, Melanie was mentioned in Billboard, Country Aircheck, and Music Row Magazine as a developing pop-country scene contender.  She also gained multiple publicity mentions as an “Artist To Watch” for 2018, following the release of her second EP “Up In Lights” in 2017. After going on a radio tour, the album single “Lifeboat” reached #2 on the UK Hot Disc chart as well as charted respectably on Music Row.  Its music video premiered on GAC.

Melanie followed the release of her second EP with two additional stand-alone singles, “Flame” and “Sober You”, the latter of which premiered on CMT’s Next Up Now segment in September of 2019.

2021 began with the release of her lead single “Cool Girl”, followed by “Damn Good Story” and “Voodoo Doll” which sonically combine her various multi-genre influences with witty, masterful lyricism and storytelling; “I just want to make good music,” she says, “whether that’s blues, country, pop, reggae, or something completely new and different. I’ll always be a country artist first, but when it comes to creating music, I want to let the song be what it’s meant to be.” If her 2023 single, “Figured Out” is any indication of the style and message of her upcoming project, we can’t wait.
